The Kerem Tunnel allows for a an experience that is unique in terms of hiking and riding.
The Kerem Tunnel is the first bike tunnel in Israel and was opened as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycle route that circles the capital.

נווה פריצקי The tunnel connects Nahal Refaim with Emek Motza. Its southern entrance is in Refaim Park, below Ein Laban while the northern entrance is located in Nahal Ein Kerem, about one kilometer away close to the Kerem junction.

Jerusalem was once a popular tourist attraction due to its rich past. Elkin said that apart from its rich history the modern tourist industry is integrated into the Jerusalem city. Elkin his ministry, which spearheaded the project along with Jerusalem Municipality stated that his ministry has invested thousands of shekels every year in the city's tourism development and in the development of new ventures and attractions that will connect the magnificent historic past with the the future of Jerusalem. The project was funded by Elkin's ministry and the Tourism Ministry. It also included budgets for Jerusalem Municipality and the Gihon Corporation. The work was completed by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

Elkin said that the Kerem Tunnel project was a key tool in realizing the vision of changing the concept for transportation in Jerusalem. "The tunnel is set to connect to the Jerusalem Ring Path. https://www.facebook.com/neveparitzki The Kerem Tunnel first was excavated in the late 90s to relocate the main sewer line of the Gihon Corporation towards Sorek. It is now being used as an infrastructure Tunnel which includes the fifth waterline to Jerusalem via the Mekorot water corporation.

Road construction and installation, as well as blowers, sophisticated security systems and electrical wiring are all part of the ongoing work. The tunnel will be safe for the public to use throughout the season.
