Neve ParitzkiJerusalem's first cycle tunnel has been opened in Israel

The tunnel runs through the Nahal-Refaim-Emek-Motza path.  https://www.israelhayom.co.il/mumlazim/article/13057097 Its southern entry is located within Refaim Park under Ein Laban. The northern entry, Nahal Ein Kerem, is just half a kilometer away from the Nahal Ein Kerem junction.

The 2.1-kilometers-long tunnel project was officially inaugurated at a formal ceremony held on Thursday that was attended by Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze'ev Elkin Mayor Moshe Lion, Gihon water company chairman Avi Baleshnikov and hundreds of cyclists.

"The opening (of this tunnel project) is another aspect of the growth of Jerusalem as well as its transformation into a desirable tourist city for all sorts of visitors across Israel as well as around the world."

The ministry of Elkin, which also headed the project with Jerusalem Municipality, said that the ministry "invests hundreds of millions of shekels every year in all aspects of Jerusalem’s tourism and in creating new ventures and attractions that connect the magnificent historical history of our capital city and the future."  נווה פריצקינווה פריצקי I invite all cyclists to visit and enjoy the new, well-maintained and modern route which overlooks Old Jerusalem.

Elkin's Ministry, the Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality as well as the Gihon Corporation all contributed to the project. The Jerusalem Development Authority completed the work.

Elkin stated that the Kerem Tunnel project is an important tool in realizing the idea to change the way of thinking and transportation throughout Jerusalem. "The tunnel, which connects with the Jerusalem Ring Path, will connect the existing cycle routes within the city and are being constructed in its diverse neighborhoods. It is designed to encourage bicycle riding within the city's residents and to promote the green revolution in transportation in Jerusalem."

To make the tunnel usable to the public all year round, the works include road construction and installing blowers.

The Kerem Tunnel also allows access to special recreation areas - including the Ein Kerem neighborhood, the biblical zoo, aquarium and the as well as the historic natural springs of Ein Laban and Ein Haniyeh.
